How to Convert a 16 oz Pint Recipe to a 24 oz Deluxe Cup

Use the 1.5x shortcut for a standard-to-deluxe conversion, then check max fill, mix-ins, and texture before you freeze. This guide is for home pint machines and is not affiliated with any appliance maker.

Shortcut

1.5x

24 oz target divided by 16 oz source.

Reverse

Use this when a deluxe recipe needs a standard cup.

Safer unit

grams

Scoop and spoon volumes vary too much for powders.

The quick formula

For a 16 oz to 24 oz conversion, multiply the base recipe by 1.5. That gives you the right starting point for liquid, protein powder, fruit, cocoa, pudding mix, gums, and other blended base ingredients.

Step-by-step

Step 1

Identify the source and target cup

A standard recipe is usually written for a 16 oz cup. A deluxe target is 24 oz, so the simple capacity shortcut is 24 divided by 16.

Step 2

Scale the base by 1.5x

Multiply the base ingredients by 1.5. For example, 300g liquid becomes 450g, and 31g protein powder becomes 46.5g.

Step 3

Check the fill line

After blending, keep the base below the target fill line. A recipe can be mathematically correct and still be messy if foam, fruit, or extra liquid pushes it too high.

Step 4

Add mix-ins last

Scale mix-ins more cautiously than the base. Cookies, cereal, candy, and nut butter can change calories and texture fast.

What not to scale blindly

Mix-ins

Scale cookies, candy, cereal, and chopped chocolate by taste, not just math. Add them after the first spin when possible.

Protein scoops

A scoop is not a universal unit. Use the grams on your label, then check the macros after conversion.

Foamy bases

Some blends gain volume after mixing. If the base gets airy, stop below the line even if the gram math says it should fit.

FAQ

Is 1.5x always right?

It is the right quick shortcut for nominal 16 oz to 24 oz capacity. Use the calculator's max-fill fields when the recipe was already near the line or your cup marks differ.

Should I convert servings too?

Usually yes. If the original pint was two servings, the deluxe version may be three similar servings after a 1.5x conversion.

Why does texture change after scaling?

Bigger batches can need slightly different respin liquid, sweetness, or flavor intensity. Save the converted draft so you can note what changed after the spin.
